Education has always been really big in my family; it’s always been a very big stressor. My dad was in the military for most of his life, and one of his lifelong goals was to go to law school. He wasn’t able to, because he had to support his family. So I decided to become a lawyer to kind of fulfill his dream.

I wasn’t originally planning on going to law school. I thought medical was the way that I wanted to go, but my second year of college I really decided that the legal field appealed to me more than the medical field did.

I enjoy practicing bankruptcy because I’m giving someone a second opportunity and also giving them a chance to kind of rebuild their credit. With regards to filing bankruptcy, this is the best opportunity that someone would get to keep their home that would otherwise lose it in a foreclosure.

I really enjoy volunteering. I volunteer at the Humane Society and I also do the free legal clinic on Saturdays for the Memphis Area Legal Services. I also enjoy running, swimming, reading a good book, traveling when I get the chance.
