Why is a good medical malpractice attorney important?

Video Transcript

Hello, I’m Darrell Castle. I’m an attorney licensed to practice law in the state of Tennessee and this is the fourth video of our series about medical malpractice in Tennessee. And on this video, we’re talking about why it is necessary for you to hire an attorney – and not just an attorney but a good and experienced attorney – to handle your medical malpractice case.

Part of it should be obvious – it’s a very complicated matter. It’s not like a traffic accident where some claims adjuster from the insurance company is going to call you and offer you money. It doesn’t work like that with medical negligence. No one is going to talk to you until you file a lawsuit – they’re not even going to talk to you in 99% of the cases unless you file a lawsuit. Only a lawyer can do that for you and I would suggest it’s one that knows what he or she is doing.

Here at my firm for example, you find a different type of lawyer and a different type of firm. We’re people who get to know you. We’re NOT people who treat you like a number because we have thousands of medical malpractice cases open, but you become special to us. We get to know each other and we handle you in that way.

Medical malpractice has to have an attorney who knows the profession. Who knows the best experts and has access to the best experts to give you as quick of an answer as possible as to whether or not your case can go forward.

He or she needs to have access to the medical experts trained in that area to give you an answer as to whether that case has liability or it doesn’t. It’s better to find that out on the front end than it is a year or two later after litigation – that really is a bad situation.

So you need somebody who knows what he or she is doing. You need somebody who’s experienced. And most importantly, you need someone who you can relate to, get along with and be comfortable with. You know if you call that attorney, you will talk to them and get information. That is the best way to go about it, folks.
