Never make a recorded statement without an attorney
By: Darrell Castle
Though you’ll have to provide a statement to the other party’s insurance adjuster eventually, you’re not obligated to give one without a lawyer, and you should NEVER do so.
The insurance adjuster wants to hear your side of the story, and at some point you’re obligated to give that, but you should always have legal representation first.
In this video, I give an example of someone making the mistake of giving a recorded statement without representation. Doing so has the potential to be very damaging to your case. You need to go over your statement with a lawyer – not so you give an untruthful statement but so you give a truthful one in the RIGHT way.
So, now you know not to provide a recorded statement without an attorney, but there’s other things you should know too in handling your car accident, including specific things that need to be done at the scene of the wreck.
I’ve created a Car Accident Checklist that you can download here, print and keep in your car just in case you find yourself in a car accident. It’s easy to panic and forget what you’re supposed to do, but this list will hold you accountable.
If you have any questions or concerns, or if you think you have a car accident case, please don’t hesitate to speak to an experienced car accident attorney.
My firm, Darrell Castle & Associates, has received multiple Client Distinction Awards from Martindale-Hubbel for client satisfaction and we’d love to help you.
