Tracy Morgan — famous actor and comedian — and Walmart reached a settlement. The terms are undisclosed.
If you recall last June, Tracy Morgan was in a limousine bus in New Jersey when a Walmart tractor-trailer slammed into the vehicle. One passenger was killed while others were seriously injured, including Morgan.
Morgan suffered broken leg bones, a broken nose and several broken ribs. He spent a lot of time in the hospital for his injuries.
State police claim the Walmart truck driver failed to see slow-moving traffic while driving on the New Jersey Turnpike, causing him to slam into Morgan’s vehicle.
“While we know there is nothing that can change what happened, Walmart has been committed to doing what’s right to help ensure the well-being of those who were impacted by the accident,” said Greg Foran, Walmart US president and and CEO.
I posted a blog post yesterday about tractor-trailer accidents like this one.
Tractor-trailier accidents cause 8% of all US highway traffic crashes, and 11% of all FATAL road crashes.
As heavy as these trucks are and with the speed they travel, the damage these crashes can cause is devastating. Morgan’s accident is proof.
