You can keep your utilities from being shut off by filing for bankruptcy.

It’s pretty easy sometimes for money to get tight. You may get sick and have to take time off work. You may have a car emergency that you didn’t save money for. Any number of things can happen that cause you to pinch pennies.

And often times when people begin to pinch pennies, they miss a payment on a bill here and there.

Falling behind on your utility bill has some uncomfortable consequences though. You don’t want to be caught in a Memphis winter with no heat or a Memphis summer with no air conditioning. And of course, you need your electricity and water at all times of the year.

But, falling behind on your utility bill eventually results in the utility company (MLGW if you’re in Memphis) shutting off your electricity, gas and water. Don’t let that happen to you!

Our bankruptcy lawyers Memphis, TN respects know that by filing for bankruptcy, you can keep your utilities turned on, either through a Chapter 7 discharge or a Chapter 13 repayment. Once the bankruptcy is filed, the utility company will be contacted and informed that you filed bankruptcy and they’ll be forced to keep your utilities on.

You may have been programmed to think of bankruptcy as a bad thing, but it’s not. If you’re in debt and stranded, it’s relief from your debt. You don’t have to live enslaved to it!

Through a Chapter 7, your dischargeable debts can be discharged in a few short months, OR through a Chapter 13, you can make small affordable payments on your debt for a longer period of time. Each chapter comes with it’s own unique qualifications and advantages that an experienced bankruptcy attorney can explain.

Then, once your bankruptcy is complete, you’ve kept your utilities on and you’re free of that debt obligation with a great opportunity to begin rebuilding your finances the RIGHT WAY.

You need an attorney you can trust. You need an attorney with your best interest at heart – someone who’ll walk and talk you through every step of the process.
