As a nursing home abuse attorney in Memphis, TN, I am often shocked by how families find out that their loved ones have been victims of abuse or neglect. In this video, I discuss what happens and what you can do about it.

Hello, I’m Darrell Castle. I’m a nursing home abuse attorney in Memphis, TN, and I would like to talk to you today about the number one way clients  – my clients – find out that their loved one has been abused in a nursing home.

The number one way is: they get a call from a doctor or a nurse at an emergency room, at a hospital, because the nursing home has dumped their problem on the emergency room. They call an ambulance and they have the person taken to an emergency room because he’s been really injured – broken bone, broken hip, broken arm – that sort of thing. Or perhaps there’s a bedsore that’s gotten so bad it’s turned septic.

They’re alarmed about it, so they send the person to an emergency room. And the doctors and nurses at the emergency room see it, and they’re so upset about the person’s condition, which they know is obviously caused by neglect. They know had the person received proper care, it would not have happened. Had the person been turned and so forth, they would not have had this terrible a bedsore.

So they call the family, and the family looks at it. And if they truly think it’s abuse, what they should do then is call a nursing home abuse lawyer. They should call me. You call me, folks. You’ll be glad you did.
