If you or your child has been hurt by JUUL e-cigarettes, you need a JUUL attorney TN trusts.

Here in Tennessee, we have a terrible problem on our hands. The number of teenagers and young people addicted to e-cigarettes is skyrocketing. This is especially true for the JUUL brand, the world’s most popular e-cigarette. My concern for this issue is why I’ve become a JUUL attorney TN residents can rely on to fight for our youth.

The JUUL e-cigarette device resembles a USB drive. It works by vaporizing a liquid containing nicotine and nicotine salts through “pods.” It has been marketed primarily to young people, particularly high school students. The JUULpods even include flavors like mango, creme, and mint.

But the JUUL is not just an electronic version of a cigarette. It’s much stronger.

Each JUULpod contains as much nicotine as a pack of 20 regular cigarettes.

According to the Surgeon General of the United States, “All JUUL e-cigarettes have a high level of nicotine. A typical JUUL cartridge, or ‘pod,’ contains about as much nicotine as a pack of 20 regular cigarettes… This is of particular concern for young people, because it could make it easier for them to initiate the use of nicotine through these products and also could make it easier to progress to regular e-cigarette use and nicotine dependence.”

Alarmingly, about two-thirds of JUUL users between the ages of 15 and 24 did not understand that JUUL products always contain the highly-addictive and damaging chemical nicotine.

JUUL marketed their e-cigarettes to children on social media.

From 2017 to 2018, e-cigarette use increased 48% among middle school students and 78% among high school students. A major part of this surge in sales among young people is because JUUL marketed their e-cigarettes to children on social media.

Nicotine is especially harmful to young people and their still-developing brains. Nicotine exposure during adolescence can impact learning, memory, and attention, and can increase risk for future addiction to other drugs. Young adults are also uniquely at risk for long-term, long-lasting effects of nicotine on their brain. These risks include mood disorders and permanently lowering their impulse control. Nicotine also changes the way synapses form in the brain and can bring on physical symptoms like seizures, stroke, nicotine poisoning, as well as heart and lung problems.

As you can see, the JUUL e-cigarette is far from a harmless trend for young people. It could be stripping them of a bright future. For any parent who wishes to speak with their child about the dangers of e-cigarettes, this tip sheet can be a helpful guide.
