Hello! I’m Darrell Castle, and I’m here today to talk about something you may or may know about. Well, I am going to introduce you to it, whether you know about it or not, and that is what’s come to be called the ‘opioid crisis,’ or some people might call it the ‘opioid epidemic,’ as it exists here in our state of Tennessee. Nationwide, this crisis has been called the most serious health crisis in the history of America, because so many people are addicted to opioid pain relievers. What are they? Well, they’re pain relievers, prescription pain relievers that are prescribed to people legally for some type of pain and people sometimes become addicted very quickly.
These are things you’ve probably heard of like oxycontin, oxycodone, fentanyl, percocet, methadone, on and on… These things were sold to doctors about 20 years ago by the pharmaceutical companies on the premise that they were great for hard pain, for serious pain. Someone has a terrible accident, and they’re in pain, and prescription opioids are very good for relieving that. They might simply have arthritis, debilitating-type things. Before you know it, they’re addicted to these things, and they’re live-changing, life-destroying… It’s costing billions and millions of dollars around the country to treat these people. Sometimes you might say, ‘Well, it’s people’s own fault for taking these things and for becoming addicted,’ but did you know that there are people out there that suffer from these painkillers, these opioids, addiction to them, that are absolutely 100% completely innocent? They could not possibly have had anything to do with their own addiction and the aftermath of that. Those people are children, folks, babies. That’s what I’m talking about. Babies who are born to mothers who are addicted, they take these things during their pregnancy, pass it through to the baby, and they have a baby that’s born with all kinds of serious problems. Since it’s the case that we are looking for, they, this is called ‘neonatal abstinence syndrome,’ or ‘NAS.’
We’re outraged about it here as Darrell Castle & Associates, we are, we’re very angry that this has happened to all these children, thousands of them in Tennessee, and so we’re trying to do something about it, folks. You call me and I’ll talk to you about it for free.
