Then not two weeks later, two more serious crashes occurred close to each other within the same hour—both on I-240 near Poplar. One of those crashes was fatal.
This continues a trend of rising deadly accidents over the past couple of years in Shelby County. Our metro area experienced 144 fatal crashes in 2019 and a near-double 229 fatal crashes in 2020. These are shocking numbers that represent thousands of grieving Memphis families and friends.
