If you’ve been injured on the job, why would you need a lawyer? Doesn’t workers’ comp cover your injuries without needing legal help? And how much would a lawyer cost? Memphis workers’ comp lawyer Darrell Castle explains.
I was injured on the job. Do I need a lawyer?
If you’re injured on the job, you need a lawyer if your injury is one that keeps you off work for more than 14 days and if you have a doctor who’s going to say you have a percentage of disability.
A lot of injuries fit in that category that you might not think about – especially back injuries and things like that. To help prevent treatment coverage denial, if you’ve suffered a serious injury while on the job, contact a workers’ compensation lawyer Memphis, TN knows and trusts.
You’re entitled to lump sum compensation that goes above and beyond the weekly benefits you get for being temporarily off of work. A lawyer’s fee is a very modest part of that: it’s only a percentage of the lump sum award and it’s limited by law.
If your employer has 5 employees or more, he’s required by law to have workers’ compensation insurance; and if he doesn’t your attorney can help you with that, too.
So you should talk to an attorney. There’s no fee – at least in my office – for the conversation.
