Bicyclist sent to hospital after hit by a truck
By: Darrell Castle
A 57 year old man was taking a routine bike ride in Texas after a truck accident. A truck driver pulled into his lane and appeared to clip him, sending Mark Cathey to the hospital, with a collapsed lung, five broken ribs and a broken scapula among other scrapes and bruises.
For years, Cathey has been video-taping his bike rides, originally to showcase sights along his rides, but more recently for safety. Thank God he was recording this time around.
This further exemplifies the need for more bicycle safety awareness, specifically for drivers. Cathey was riding his bicycle legally along the road, but for whatever reason, the driver apparently drove directly into his lane and clipped him.
Was he falling asleep? Was he texting and driving? Why did this happen? The details don’t say, but as a personal injury attorney in Memphis, I’d take this case.
As a personal injury attorney, I’d need to prove who was liable, and in this case, the video says it all. Cathey deserves compensation for medical bills, lost wages from time off work (if he in fact worked), pain, suffering and other damages. A truck accident lawyer Memphis, TN places its trust in is an indispensable resource to bring a personal injury case.
If you’ve been injured on the roadway, of course you need to seek medical attention first and foremost. Then, if the accident wasn’t your fault, or you aren’t really sure whose fault it was, you should speak to an experienced attorney.
An experienced attorney will be able to look at your case detail by detail and discover who was liable, if compensation will be recovered and how much.
