The plot thickens for Target as the retail store announced today that up to 70 million additional customers had their personal information stolen in the breach, raising the number of people affected to 110 million.

Target understands the frustration and inconvenience this has caused the people directly affected by this breach as well as the people nervous and anxious wondering if they’ll be next.

In an attempt to offer their customers peace of mind, Target will be implementing free credit monitoring to all guests.

This service will include:

    • a complimentary credit report
    • daily credit monitoring
    • identify theft insurance where available
    • access to personalized assistance.

“We know this incident has been a confusing and stressful time for our guests, and for that we apologize,” said Scott Kennedy, president, Finance and Retail Services, Target.  “We hope this offer provides them with additional peace of mind.”

As an experienced bankruptcy attorney, I recommend this feature Target is offering.

Keep a close eye on your bank accounts, as you always should, and be careful out there, folks.
