If your new year’s resolution is to get out of debt, you’ve made a wonderful decision. As a Tennessee bankruptcy attorney, one of the best parts of my job is helping people get out of debt. I’ve spent more than three decades helping individuals and families, and I’ve seen it thousands of times: the beauty of a clean slate offers the chance to rebuild your finances stronger than ever before. The start of a new year is a natural time to take stock of what’s worked and what hasn’t in the past year. For many, it’s disheartening to realize they’re trapped in a debt spiral, when making payments barely offsets the rising interest costs each month. If this sounds familiar
Even during the pandemic, the rate of car accident fatalities is up. As a car accident lawyer TN has turned to for more than three decades, I want to make it clear that car accidents — including drunk driving — are still major problems during the Covid-19 pandemic. While there are less people on the road in general and the number of car crashes is down, the rate of accidents and fatalities are up. According to some figures, more drivers are speeding on the roads than before. In some cases and states, vehicles are reaching speeds up to 75% higher than before. So, it seems that with quieter roads, drivers are becoming more reckless with their driving. New Year’s Eve has
The Covid-19 Pandemic Has Increased the Risk of Using Some Drugs As a TN drug injury lawyer who has been fighting for families for more than three decades, I want to talk about the current risk of dangerous drugs among the current state of the Covid-19 pandemic. According to a recent article from Harvard Medical School, the health care system is overloaded with Covid-19 cases, which means emergency room doctors are overwhelmed and first responders may arrive more slowly. Because of this, many Americans are choosing to treat themselves at home for ailments they would normally get treated at an urgent care clinic or the hospital. But there are risks associated with using both over-the-counter medications and prescription drugs alike.
When you’re living paycheck to paycheck, it’s easy to fall behind on regular car payments. And when you’re living in the midst of a global pandemic with an uncertain economy and record-high unemployment rates, paying your bills is more stressful than ever. Unfortunately, car lenders aren’t understanding. Worse, the bank is legally justified in threatening to seize your vehicle if you fall behind on your car note. As a bankruptcy lawyer TN has relied for over thirty years, I know that repossession is devastating. For those who rely on their cars to get to work, it can create a spiraling financial nightmare. Bankruptcy Offers a Way Out Thankfully, there is a way to stop car repossession, and all the stress
Once a claimant is awarded Social Security benefits, the Social Security Administration (SSA) can and will periodically review a claimant’s medical impairments to determine if the claimant is still disabled. More precisely, SSA will likely have a state’s Disability Determination Services (DDS) conduct the period evaluation. A periodic evaluation is called a continuing disability review (CDR). If DDS determines that a claimant is not disabled anymore, SSA will stop paying benefits. SSA has the burden of showing that a claimant has had medical improvement and is able to return to work. DDS is supposed to conduct a review every three years, unless (1) SSA determines the claimant has a medical condition that will improve sooner or (2) a claimant’s medical
As a TN Bankruptcy Lawyer, I am proud to have served the good people of Tennessee for over thirty years. In my decades of work, I’ve seen every kind of financial distress, and the deep impact that can have on your quality of life. When you are deep in the throes of debt, many things seem impossible: the house you’ve always dreamt of owning. The ability to save money, invest for your future, or take the trip of your dreams. Worst of all, a life free of debt seems completely out of reach. This year, more people than ever are finding themselves in daunting financial situations. The uncertainty the Covid-19 pandemic has brought on our economy means millions of people
The Christmas tree is a symbol that has positive meaning for so many of us. It represents togetherness, the holidays, and the deeper meaning of Christmas. Many of us are shopping for or have already decorated the perfect Christmas tree. It’s a beautiful reminder of our families’ traditions, especially during one of the most isolated holiday seasons we’ve ever experienced. But as a personal injury attorney TN trusts, I know that without certain important safety precautions, even the most beautiful Christmas tree can quickly become a fire hazard. Christmas Trees Can Become Fire Hazards According to the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA), fire departments across the United States respond to an average of 200 Christmas tree fires per year. Some
One of the most important tools in estate planning is making a will. Depending on the type of assets a person has, a will may be the only thing they need to do, while others may consider trusts and other legal options for their estates. No matter the size of your estate, it is important to have an estate planning attorney helping you with these documents to ensure they are drafted correctly according to your state’s laws. When a person is drafting a will, they will need to choose the person they want to be the executor of the estate. The person who is chosen as the executor should be someone that the person trusts completely to protect their assets.
Personal Injury Lawyer Slip and fall accidents can occur under almost any circumstance. Many times they are avoidable, but for some instances, it could be because of someone’s act of negligence. A landlord’s reluctance to fix a broken stairway, a sidewalk that a neighbor failed to keep clear of snow and ice, or in some cases, a thief who willfully hurt their victim — all of these are perfect examples of negligence. It surprises many to learn that falling from a standing position can result in serious or even fatal injuries. Sustaining such injuries does not require falling from a great height. And if the person falls onto a sharp object, they can be fatally impaled. If you were injured
Nursing Home Lawyer When it comes to nursing home lawsuits, they can be civil or criminal lawsuits. The plaintiff (victim) is looking to hold the nursing home liable for any abuse or neglect that has happened to someone under the nursing home’s care. Not every nursing home report of negligence or abuse goes to court, or even gets a lawsuit. Sometimes these issues can be settled without the law involved in such a public manner. Nursing home abuse victims may receive compensation for their suffering, without suing or going to court, especially if there is no argument from the nursing home. However, if there is an argument about who is at fault—either the nursing home as a whole or workers
