Big US bank will pay for misleading mortgage customers

By: Darrell Castle

SunTrust Banks, Inc is facing allegations of misleading its mortgage customers and has now reached a $968 million settlement agreement.

“This settlement will provide direct payments to Tennessee borrowers for past foreclosure abuses, loan modifications and other relief for borrowers in need of assistance,” according to the Tennessee Attorney General.

More than 2,000 Tennessee SunTrust borrowers are eligible, including those who lost their homes to foreclosure from January 1, 2008 all the way through December 31, 2013.
