By: Darrell Castle Many unemployed people file for bankruptcy — there’s nothing wrong with it. People turn to bankruptcy when they’re struggling with debts they just can’t pay. And many times, the debts and financial struggles come from losing their job. So, filing for bankruptcy while unemployed is a common thing. But are you filing for Chapter 7 or Chapter 13 bankruptcy? That’s important to answer. Chapter 7 Bankruptcy Chapter 7 bankruptcy is good for getting rid of unsecured debts like credit card and medical bills. Those debts can really pile up fast when you fall behind and cause a lot of worry and stress. Chapter 7 allows you to discharge them relatively quickly without making payments towards them. Since
Have you answered the phone and the person on the other line claimed to be an FBI agent monitoring your online activity and citing an overdue payday loan? This either causes you to give into their demands or, as we’ve seen happen before with our clients, not go home. These “FBI agents” have zero power over you – there’s no need to be scared. You need to contact an experienced car accident attorney immediately. In some car accident cases, the liability is completely obvious. In others, it’s not. Check your accounts – bank and credit card. Do you see a weird charge on there for $9.84? If so, your account has been compromised. The Better Business Bureau has issued a SCAM ALERT, one in which con artists are hoping their victims either don’t check their account statements, or will look right over this small charge. You may have seen a rather outrageous story passed around the internet recently about a registered nurse who left a 95-year-old dementia patient in her car for over 2 hours while she gambled at a casino. Authorities took the elder to a hospital for observation after a woman saw her sitting in the car and called the police. Doctors say she showed no signs of distress – likely because of her dementia – but needed observation for some time. Police charged the caregiver with neglect. Elder neglect is a very dangerous crime, especially when the elder has dementia. Age increases the risks for dehydration and overheating. Dementia can cause the elder to walk off, even into the street, without realizing
