He could leave the Heat and sign with another contender who he thinks has a better chance of winning a championship He could sign a bigger contract with the Heat and make MORE money. Or, he could put pressure on

The Memphis area is notorious for pedestrian accidents. In one study, we rank 7th in pedestrian deaths of all the cities in the United States – and 5th in major metro areas. Relatively little time and effort goes into preventing pedestrian deaths, but it’s a very important cause. Here are a few things we could do in Memphis that might help improve pedestrian safety: 1. Raise awareness of “drunk walking” risks. Drunk driving is not the only danger on the road. 1/3 of all pedestrian fatalities occur when the pedestrian is legally drunk (blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 grams per deciliter or more). It is extremely dangerous to walk along the road while intoxicated, and the longer you walk the
If you’re concerned about your credit if you file bankruptcy, don’t worry – that’s normal and understandable. Fantasy football has grown into a massive industry, but it’s also brought with it a crisis: fantasy football debt. Addiction to gambling and sports betting have been around for years. Since Tunica opened near Memphis, our bankruptcy firm has helped many, many people with debt from the casinos. We’ve seen this type of addiction take hold all across the Mid-South.But fantasy sports works differently and comes with its own unique risks. The New York Times recently reported that recovering gambling addicts are falling back into betting because of fantasy games at their office and with friends. It doesn’t feel like gambling, and it’s branded as “entertainment,” so they get involved thinking of it as innocent fun. Instead, many people have lost
The very first thing a lot of people want to know when hiring a bankruptcy attorney is “how much will it cost.” Unfortunately, there’s been a rise lately in lawyers offering bankruptcy services at a very low rate and then not providing a quality service. When I hear the question, my heart sinks a little, because I hate to see people get taken for a ride – especially when you’re already struggling financially. And when it comes to bankruptcy, you get what you pay for. In bankruptcy, the results of poor service can be devastating. I’m not just talking about hidden fees and unreturned phone calls, although both are terrible. I’m talking about feeling abandoned when you need it most.

The Associated Press issued the following tweet this morning… This is both good and bad. It’s good that weekly jobless claims are at pre-recession levels, however it’s worrisome that there’s an increase in Americans seeking jobless benefits. It’s even more worrisome here in Memphis, a community that typically sits behind the curve and tends to have a higher unemployment rate than other bigger cities. In fact, as of this past Janurary, Memphis’ unemployment rate is 8.4%, which ranks 43rd among the 50 largest metropolitan areas in the US, according to the US Department of Labor. As a Memphis bankruptcy attorney who’s practiced in this city for decades, I know many Memphians are struggling. It can be tough to get by,
