By: Darrell Castle According to a study, Mississippi is ranked the 8th worst state for teen drivers. The study used 16 key metrics broken down into categories examining safety conditions, economic environment and driving laws of the state. Here’s how Mississippi ranked: If you recall, last week two teens were killed by a drunk driver in Mississippi right outside of Memphis on their way to the beach. By: Darrell Castle Out of all cities, Memphis has the 23rd largest population in the country. It’s also a city in which businesses and residential areas are spread out. That results in a lot of cars on the road covering a lot of ground daily. The more cars on the road, the higher probability of seeing a car accident. That’s just math. Most of the time it’s just an accident with some property damage — a fender bender we hope. But often the accident results in an injury. Or even a fatality. The Tennessee Department of Safety offers some detailed crash data to help show trends in the state, and just how dangerous driving in Memphis — Shelby County for
Memphis is in a frenzy today with ice on the street. Though in some parts of the town, you may not understand what all the commotion is about, it doesn’t mean that other parts of town don’t have ice. If you’ve read the news this morning or scrolled down your Twitter feed, you most likely saw pictures of overturned cars, traffic accident reports and a lot of angry parents complaining to Shelby County School Board officials for not letting schools out (some parents used some pretty choice words.). I shared a video with you earlier this week with some tips for driving in the snow and those tips apply to driving in the ice as well. First and foremost, be

Did you know there’s such a thing as foreclosure fraud? Also known as a “mortgage relief scam,” this crime actually happens often. In fact, in October 2012, federal investigators charged 530 people for defrauding over 73,000 homeowners who’d fallen behind on their mortgages. The homeowners were financially vulnerable and they needed a solution to their crisis. Their situation made them ideal victims for fraud. In the October cases, criminals posed as financial service providers and offered to buy a debtor’s mortgage or negotiate on the homeowner’s behalf if the homeowner would pay them a significant fee. The federal government estimated debtors lost over $1 billion in the scheme. Don’t fall prey to the same fraudulent tactics! If you’re behind on
